The Nightline Executive Committee are responsible for the day to day operations of the organisation itself, which includes training and supporting the 250 or so volunteers who take calls, answer IMs and respond to emails. They also manage our fantastic Publicity Team, who don't take calls, but help promote the organisation at the University. Each Exec member has a slightly different set of responsibilities to ensure that Nightline functions smoothly!
General Secretary:
Keith is in charge of taking minutes at each Executive Committee meeting, AGMs and EGMs, writing these up, and distributing them to all members of the organisation. He is also in charge of collating the biannual reports of the committee.
Training Officers:
Alex and Kate are responsible for the organisation, structure and content of our extensive training programme for volunteers. They also organise refresher training to ensure that our current volunteers are always up to date.
Social Secretaries:
Flo & Mairéad are responsible for the Nightline social scene! They organise a wide range of events for both new and current volunteers, which gives our anonymous members the chance to mingle and chat.
The Coordinators:
Lizzie and Anna are, essentially, responsible for the entire organisation. They chair Executive Committee meetings, represent the organisation on various Students’ Union committees, provide support to every one of our members, and generally ensure that everything is running as it should be!
Information Officers:
Jess and Sarah's role is to ensure that when anyone rings us requesting information, we are able to give accurate information, quickly and easily. Whether it’s travel info, cinema times, fast food numbers, or course information, because of their hard work you’ll have the knowledge you need in next to no time!
Treasurer:
Dan keeps a close watch on our finances to ensure that we remain in the black. It is his decision where and how our money is spent each year.
Publicity Officers:
Noor, Amelia, Amy & Brooke have the important task of making sure that every student knows that our service is there for them. They manage the Publicity Team, which includes Patch and Pip the Nightline Bears.
Noor and Amelia manage publicity for University of Nottingham students.
Amy & Brooke manage publicity for Nottingham Trent campuses.
Rota Officers:
Ben and Caroline make sure that there are always volunteers available to take your call, every night of term, 7pm – 8am. It is through their hard work that we remain one of the few Nightlines in the country who have not had to close the lines in well over a year!
Technical Support Officer:
Rob is in charge of the upkeep of the large amounts of technical equipment that we use at Nightline. He also ensures that new technology (such as IM) works well and is implemented smoothly.
